The hotel is quite close to the Canyon area
and it is easy to get from one to another. The outing is highly
recommendable since along the way we can contemplate beautiful
locations, the most famous unquestionably being the River
Lobos Canyon nature reserve, which is entered in the
locality of Ucero.
The Canyon encompasses a complex that deserves
the most meticulous care. Declared a nature
reserve to ensure its correct preservation and maximisation,
the cracks of this canyon sculpted on a calcareous rock formation
accommodate nests made by all types of birds, which will be
soaring over our heads during our walk.
Given its proximity to the River Lobos Canyon,
it is essential to visit El Burgo de
Osma declared Village of tourist
interest in 1961. The Romanesque
Cathedral is one of the town’s most emblematic
monuments, although the Main Square (Plaza Mayor), the hospice
and the university are also beautiful architectural examples.
The town of Calatañazor
is located in the heart of the region of Soria. This Medieval
village is all art and has been declared a historical-artistic
complex. Nearby we come upon another incredible natural
location: La Fuentona. A famous
spot surrounded by moors, ravines and limestone gullies, the
source of river Avión.
Between Calatañazor and la Fuentona we
find one of the best preserved savine
woods, with trees measuring 14 metres high, over 5
metres in diameter, which have been standing here for almost
two thousand years.
